Richard A. Eighmy, 89, of Evergreen St., Conneaut passed away peacefully on Monday, November 23, 2015. He was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on May 24, 1926 to Arnold N. and Marie C. (Gernhart) Eighmy. Richard married the love of his life, Jane Hibler on August 9, 1950 and shortly thereafter enlisted in the United States Army, where he served honorably. He was employed with Foseco, where he worked in shipping and retired in 1992 after 28 years of service. Richard was a faithful member of The Federated Church in East Springfield, Pennsylvania, where he was an usher. He enjoyed riding his Gold Wing in his younger years, traveling and camping. Richard enjoyed working around the house and tending to his garden. Mr. Eighmy is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Jane E. Eighmy; daughter, Rachael A. Stemm; granddaughters, Laura Kay and Rebecca Stemm and Sarah Fields; and a brother, Eugene C. (Marian) Eighmy. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Rebecca Weitman. Funeral services will be held, Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 11:30 A.M. at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut, with Pastor Edward Huntley, officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, where American Legion Cowle Post #151 will honor their departed comrade. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:30 A.M. until time of services at 11:30 A.M. Memorials in memory of Richard may be given to the Alzheimer's Association, PO BOX 74934, Cleveland, Ohio, 44194-1007.
