ERIE- June Elizabeth Laughlin, 91, of Conneaut, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at UPMC-Hamot after a brief illness. June was born August 26, 1921 in Conneaut, Ohio to Frank F. and Lula B. (nee Klump) Volkman. She graduated from Kingsville High School Class of 1939. After graduation she married the late Clyde F. Laughlin on September 8, 1940. June was the secretary and book keeper for her husband's business, J & J Trucking. She also helped her son, Joel, at the former Furniture Doctor's gift store. June was a 79 year member of the New Leaf United Methodist Church. She was the pianist for the former Lakeview United Methodist Church, where she also served as a Sunday school teacher for over 30 years, and treasurer of the Missionary Society. She was a member of the ladies aid, church choir and enjoyed playing the piano for the choir, children's choir and Sunday services. June was a member of the Salem Rebekah Lodge No. 385, Good Luck Club of Rebekah's, and the PACE exercise class. June was a loyal fan of the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, and Ohio State. She is survived by her daughters, Laraine (Charles) McCrory and Dixie (Charles) Kitchen, both of Conneaut; sons, Clyde, Jr. (Ann) of Conneaut, Michael (Laura) of Johnstown, OH, and Joel (Cheryl) of North Kingsville; grandchildren, Christine (Peter) Smithhisler, Paul (Jennifer) McCrory, John (Angela) McCrory, Dean Kitchen, Brenda Kitchen, Batena (Jason) Kern, Mark Kitchen, Matthew (Kristen) Kitchen, Katie (Joseph) Measel, Abby (Matthew) Kauppila, Emily (Gerald) Hazzard, Molly (Kevin) Keller and Deanna Laughlin; 15 great-grandchildren; and many loving family and friends. June was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clyde F. Laughlin, Sr. in 1987; sister, Gladys Kangas; and brothers, Kenneth and Edmond Volkman. Funeral services will be held, Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 12 Noon at New Leaf United Methodist Church, 283 Buffalo St., Conneaut, with Rev. Jan Walsh, officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens. Family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10 AM until time of services at 12 Noon. In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of June may be given to the New Leaf United Methodist Church, Music Department. Envelopes will be available at the church.
