Conneaut- Winnie J. Anderson, 100 years young, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2025 at the Villa at the Lake, where she had resided for the past year and a half.
Winnie was a lifelong resident of Conneaut, where she was born on September 12, 1924, the loving daughter of Omer C. and Margaret (Huttenhower) Laughlin. She was a 1942 graduate of Conneaut High School. During World War II, she was employed by Diamond Magnesium and later worked for Brown Memorial Hospital as a billing clerk. Later she worked for The Child Care Center.
Winnie was a 50-year member of the First United Methodist Church (later known as New Leaf Methodist Church). There she served in the church choir, taught Sunday School, and participated in United Methodist Women. Later in life Winnie attended the Conneaut Church of God. In her free time, she crocheted and played the piano.
Her memories will be cherished by her surviving children, Jane (Don) Barnes, Susan Sova, and William (Dawn) Anderson; sister, Mildred Jaster; daughter-in-law, Kathy Anderson; and a fine group of grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merle Anderson; son, Robert M. Anderson; sister, Catherine Potvin; brother, Omer Laughlin; and son-in-law, Ronald Sova;
Memorial service will be held, Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 12:00PM at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut, with Pastor Carson Robson, officiating. Friends and family will be received on Saturday also from 11:00AM until the time of service. Inurnment at East Conneaut Cemetery, will take place in the spring.
A luncheon will be served at the Church of God, 5337 Center Rd., Conneaut following the service.
Memorials in her memory may be given to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Rd., Ashtabula, Ohio.
