Jefferson- Martin Patrick Conoboy, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, February 7, 2025.

He was born on March 30, 1937, in Conneaut, Ohio, the son of Martin J. and Cecilia H. (Best) Conoboy. Martin graduated from Conneaut High School Class of 1956. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1956, where he served as a journalist, until his honorable discharge in 1960.

He was a newspaper reporter for most of his career, and notably at the Jefferson Gazette, where he served as County Editor. In addition, he was the first Ashtabula County Mediator. Furthermore, he enjoyed helping the elderly with their grocery trips, appointments and other daily activities.

Martin was a devout catholic and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church (Corpus Christi Parish) in Conneaut and he also attended St. Joseph Calasanctius Catholic Church in Jefferson.

His memories will be cherished by his family, including his children, Joseph (Sharon) Conoboy, Sharon (Andre Kulisz) Conoboy, Martin (Melissa) Conoboy, Sheila (Walter) Nebelski, Stephen (Beth) Conoboy, and Rev. Fr. Shawn Conoboy; dear sister, Coletta Conoboy; grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Tyler, Zachary (Cassidy), Andrew and Mihka; and great-grandchildren, Christie, Amelia, and Kieran.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Thomas, James and Joann; and great-granddaughter Kali.

Calling hours will be held Monday, February 10, 2025, from 5-7PM at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at 11AM at St. Joseph Calasanctius Church, 32 E. Jefferson St., Jefferson, Ohio. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Conneaut, where military honors will be observed.
