Obituary of Frances Rought

Conneaut- Frances Rought, 96, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 7, 2025 at Saybrook Landing. She was born on February 23, 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Horvath) Phillips. Frances defied many odds, she was very sick in her younger years, and doctors told her she would not live past the age of 18 or bear any children. She proved many people wrong by having 10 children and living the longest of all her siblings. Frances was a devoted member of the New Apostolic Church in Kingsville for many years. Frances enjoyed watching television, doing word searches and crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed reading. Frances enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and they were all very important to her. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly. Frances will be remembered as the "Highland Hugger" and for her positive outlook, sense of humor and her feistiness. She is survived by her children, Christine "Chris" (Jim) Stultz, Diane (Harold, Sr.) Adams, Laura (Robert) Beatman, Dennis (Belinda) Rought, Sr., Keith (Kathy) Rought, Robert (Ann Goudge) Rought, Terry Rought, and Thomas Rought; grandchildren, Joshua and Justin Gurto, Christopher and Amber Adams, Nathan, Kevin and David Brewer, Jason Rought, Tammy Broome, Dennis Rought, Jr., Cassandra, Amy and Kimberly Rought, Megan Copeland, Bradley and Tommy Rought; and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Rought; siblings, Edith Courtwright, Joseph Phillips and Catherine Balla; and a granddaughter, Rose Best. Calling hours will be held, Sunday, March 9, 2025 from 5PM-7PM at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut, where a service will follow at 7:00PM with Rev. Roger Stancliff, officiating. A graveside committal service will be held Monday, March 10, 2025 at 11:00AM at East Conneaut Cemetery.
