Q: What will you never forget about David?
A: I will always remember your tenacity and grit. Your strong-willed nature was something I admired as a young man and over the years has inspired me to stick to my beliefs of what is right and wrong, even in the face of adversity.

"Somewhere With You" will always remind me of Dave...this song came on when we were at a benefit and Dave went out on the dance floor and took me with him! He loved that song. This wasn't the first time we were some where with music and Dave had me go on the dance floor with him; he always had me dancing if I was around! These great memories will always be with me! ❤️

Dave was a kind, generous and funny man. In the short time I was part of the Lewis family, he was more like a brother, than a brother-in-law. He will be missed.

Dear Dad....
I have a million things to say, yet I'm lost for words.... I have a million stories to tell, but where do I start?....
I'm still in disbelief to what has happened.... You're the strongest, bravest man I know and I love you so so much... I have inherited your OCD tendencies, your inability to never sit still, your love of nature, the earth, the water, keeping vehicles spotless, using armor-all, being on point with the target, music, singing, dancing, organization, peanuts, chocolate, walleye, four wheeling, shooting, singing, poking fun, snoo -snoo's (Eskimo kisses), mush mushes (too hard to explain), yee-hawing, no boo-hooing, and many more things that are words that you've made up and doesn't make sense to normal people but it's a language that makes sense to me. It's actually pretty exhausting....however..
I am so honored and proud to call you my Dad.... I hope to show my kids the strength, knowledge and love that you have shown me throughout the years. Thank you for everything.....thank you....I love you Dad....

I had the pleasure of working with Dave, AKA "Hickory", at Euclid Chemical for many years. Dave was a truly wonderful person—kind, hardworking, and so very funny. I will especially remember Dave as my inventory partner - he was so knowledgeable on our products and the operation of our warehouse. That along with his sense of humor made even the most tedious work tasks enjoyable. Sending my deepest and heartfelt condolences to Dave's family.

Too many great memories with Uncle Dave to list just one! We did everything together, he was like another father to me. We went riding our 4 wheelers together, hunting, checking our trail cameras, fishing, shooting, playing our guitars, riding our Harley’s, and making our annual deer bologna on the smoker. So many good times we had in his boat “The Guzzler”, and in his happy place, “Camp Hickory “. We had matching 4 wheelers, and we even went together to buy matching guns, our Browning buck marks. He would always joke with me, and tell me his Browning was better than mine even though they were identical. (He was just a better shot than I). Probably my favorite though was when Dylan was 9 years old, and shot his first deer in Uncle Dave’s woods. Uncle Dave was so pumped up for him, I’ve never seen him that excited. He was so stoked! The knowledge, and memories that he left me with will never be forgotten, and will be passed down to my boys. Rest easy Uncle Dave, I love you!

Dave and I were perch fishing in his 24 foot wooden boat when a storm hit quickly so we started heading back to the dock - a huge wave picked up the boat and had us surfing it until we got to the gap, the wave broke and we went nose first straight down. I thought we were going to sink. The boat came bobbing up and Dave and I laughed like crazy. What a great day!

Memories. Dave and I drove to Erie airport in a crazy snow storm in his Volkswagen bug with no heat, to pick up our brother Mark who was coming home on leave from the army. The windshield kept iceing over and we slid all over the highway, but I was never scared because I knew my big brother would take care of me.

I had a lot of fun with Dave down at the lake. I’ll never forget when some kid rolled his car at the bottom of Broad St. We were first on the scene and Dave pulled the kid out of the car with one hand after kicking out the window with his boat shoes on to get the kid out. Dave was a great guy and an even better friend. I really looked up to him.
Rest easy my friend you are no longer suffering. You are in better place. Someday we will meet again, drink a beer and have a laugh.

Uncle Dave so many memories of him growing up. Why I remember the most is he was always so organized and working on his yard all the time when he moved to Hildom Rd. For me I remember when he put the elevator basketball hoop in and one of the reason I became such a good ball handler was playing Denny all the time on the rock driveway. You never knew which way the ball would bounce so it made me better. Uncle Dave was good at everything the best shooter I knew he seemed to win a majority of the time at the shoots. He could play guitar, hunt better than most, was an excellent pool player in fact I remember him playing 3 ball a lot at the red house in Conneaut on the west side by the trailer park. Before he moved back out south. He was good at horse shoes too. One other memory I have is when I was really small Mike had to go out of town for work and I got to go to the Alabama Concert with my Mom, Uncle Dave, and Aunt Judy it was my first concert and I couldn’t have been older than 5! I still remember the entrance Alabama made to that concert it was so cool! Love you man and I’ll remember you forever! Love to you and may you rest in peace! Love to all of the family!
