Ida M. Wofford, 95 years young, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, May 12, 2025


Ida was born on March 3, 1930 in Ashtabula, Ohio the daughter of Roosevelt and Dorthy (Underwood) Rush.


A woman of unwavering faith, Ida was a longtime and faithful member of First Azusa Apostolic Faith Church of God, where she served with grace and dignity on the Church Mother Board and was a current member of New Hope Church of God in Christ (COGIC). Her deep-rooted spirituality was a guiding light not only for her family but for all who knew her.


Ida dedicated her early years to shaping young minds as a volunteer at Head Start. She also served as a Den Mother, offering mentorship, care, and encouragement to many. Her hands were rarely still, she loved canning, ceramics, quilting, and cooking. A natural nurturer, Ida found joy and peace in her garden, spending countless hours tending to her flowers and yard.


More than anything, Ida cherished her family. She was a devoted wife and homemaker, the heart of her home. Her strength, warmth, and unwavering love left a lasting imprint on those blessed to know her.


She will be dearly missed and forever remembered for her faith, strength, creativity, and the deep love she shared with family and friends.


She is survived by her children, Darlene Coleman, Renae Weathers, Marie Wofford, Tina (Kareem) Singleton, Cheryl Kelly, Michael Wofford, Wilbert (Ivory) Wofford, Jr., and Calvin Wofford; sister, Delores Yopp; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and extended family members.


She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilbert Wofford, Sr.; son, John Wofford; daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Gordon Hunt; son and daughter-in-law Morris and Nancy Wofford, Sr. and her daughter, Maryann Henton; sister, Pauline Uell


Calling hours will be observed, Friday, May 16, 2025 from 5PM-7PM at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut, Ohio. Funeral services will be observed Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 11:00AM at Hiawatha Church of God In Christ, 3417 Hiawatha Ave., Ashtabula, where a calling hour will be observed from 10AM until time of service at 11AM. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens,
