Conneaut – Diane Ruth Schreiber, 77, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of her family, on Saturday, February 14, 2026.

Born September 14, 1948, in Conneaut, Ohio, she was the daughter of Edmond and Ruth (Speaks) Volkman. A proud graduate of Conneaut High School, Class of 1966, Diane carried her hometown pride with her throughout her life.

Diane's life was rooted in faith, family, and community. She was a devoted member of New Leaf United Methodist Church and formerly Lakeview United Methodist Church. She gave generously of her time, whether through Girl Scouts and the Girl Scout Mariner program while raising her children, or as a longtime member of the Odd Fellows, the Order of Eastern Star Rebekah Lodge, and the Conneaut Eagles Auxiliary. If there was a bingo game to help with or a community event to support, Diane was there with a smile. She was also a dedicated elections poll worker, faithfully serving her community at the polls since the 1990s.

Affectionately known as "Momma Schreiber," Diane opened her heart not only to her own children but to generations of Conneaut High School Band students. Even after her children graduated, she remained a proud and loyal band parent. She rarely missed a Conneaut football or basketball game and could always be counted on to cheer enthusiastically from the stands. Tuesday nights found her at the bowling alley with her Ladies League friends, and in every season she faithfully rooted for the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, and The Ohio State Buckeyes.

More than anything, Diane cherished her family. Her home was filled with laughter, love, and her unmistakable sense of humor. She treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and they will forever carry with them memories of her warm smile, quick wit, and boundless encouragement.

She is survived by her children, Melodie (Ronald) Shields and Shawn (Kristana Stadalsky) Schreiber; grandchildren, Maggie (Anthony) Easton, Joshua Schreiber, Jessica (Christopher) Clark, Johanna Coppock, Sierra Stadalsky, Courtney Sorenson, Gracie, Emma, and Owen Shields; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; brother- and sister-in-law, Joseph (Gerry) Schreiber; and sister and brother-in-law, Nancy (Doug) Jones.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Michael Schreiber; her parents; and her brother, Richard "Dick" Volkman.

Calling hours will be observed Tuesday, February 17, 2026, from 6:00–8:00 PM at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut, and Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from 10:00–11:00 AM at the funeral home, where a service will follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor Christy Suffecool officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to those who lovingly cared for Diane over the years, including Tammy Hagstrom, Nancy Jones, Maggie and Layla Easton—who always knew how to make her laugh—and Diana Manfredonia of Ashtabula Regional Home Health.
