Bruce Scott "Scott" McQuiston Obituary

Bruce “Scott” McQuiston, 63, of Conneaut, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, May 31, 2026.

Born March 26, 1963, in Sharon, Pennsylvania. Scott was the son of Bruce A. McQuiston and Julie (Lonie) Applegate. After graduating from Ross Technical Institute in Michigan, he built a long and meaningful career in civil engineering. During his years working for the City of Trenton, Michigan, he not only contributed to the city’s infrastructure but also designed the city logo — a point of pride that reflected both his technical skill and artistic eye. He later continued his professional journey in computer drafting and CAD work, fields that perfectly blended his precision and creativity.

Scott was gifted in ways that can’t be taught. Whether he was painting, sketching, or crafting intricate woodwork, he poured his heart into every piece he created. His home and the homes of those he loved are filled with the beauty of his hands.

He found joy in the simple, grounding things — fishing on a quiet morning, tending to his garden, strumming his guitar, or serving actively within his church community. Scott was also a lifelong train enthusiast. He was working on a remarkable train village that would wind its way throughout his home. He and his great nephew Marlon shared this love of trains.

Above all, Scott was a devoted father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle. He is survived by his children, Noah McQuiston, Avon Lake and Maddy (Bryn) Campbell, Wyandotte, MI; his mother, Julie Applegate, Conneaut; his siblings, Kimber McHenry, Knox, PA, Erin (Frank) Hricik, Sharon, PA, Shane (Anna) Applegate, Oil City, PA, Laurel (George) McLallen, and Lesa (Keith) Reddick both of Stoneboro, PA; and his cherished grandson, Johnny, who brought him immeasurable joy; nieces and nephews, Ian (Natalie) Hricik, Hermitage, PA, Chelsea McHenry, Lakewood, CO, Erika (Jonathan) Kinkead, East Palistine, OH, and Adam (Makiko) McHenry, Cranberry Twp., PA, and also great nieces and nephews who adored him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bruce McQuiston; his brother, Jack Kline; and his sister, Janet Applegate.
