Sarah Macdonald passed away on August 24, 2026. She was born in Scotland to her parents, William and Euphemia Macdonald, in 1946. She graduated with a teaching degree in Chemistry, Math and Physics from Glasgow University, then went to teach in Kisumu, Kenya, Africa for 2 years. She made many American friends while teaching there. She went back to Glasgow to teach. Later when she went to America to visit friends she had made while teaching in Africa, she fell in love with our big sky and moved here in 1976. She got a master’s degree in School Psychology from Edinboro PA. She was the Special Ed Coordinator for the Voc/Ed School (now called A Tech) for many years.

When in Glasgow she joined Telephone Samaritans, volunteering on the 24-hour crisis line. In Ashtabula she joined CONTACT, the 24-hour crisis hotline, and became a trainer for the volunteers. She was an excellent communicator and teacher. When she retired, she volunteered at the Wellness & Total Learning Center where she became the President of the Board and practiced her Masters level Neurolinguistic Programing skill. She helped many people.

She loved to read and do Sudoku puzzles. She loved to travel. She traveled across the US, Kenya, Greece, Germany and Canada. She played and taught the bagpipes. She was a caring and gifted lady!

She is survived by brother Alaistair (Gay) Macdonald of Los Angeles, brother Ronald (Ellen) Macdonald of Scotland and sister Helen Macdonald of Scotland, several nieces and nephews both in America and Scotland and her roommate Susan Deak (they were the Golden Girls). She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Flora (John) Pearson of England.
