Denise Ann Winger, 58, passed away at her home on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 11:53 pm, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with Breast Cancer. She was born on November 14, 1964 in Youngstown, Ohio the daughter of Edwin and Amy (nee Kern) Winger. Denise was a devoted and cherished mother and grandmother to her two children, Chelsea Fentress and Justin Fentress as well as her 6 grandchildren: Ari, Gio, Pax, Quinn, Greyson and Rex. She also leaves behind a legacy of love that extends to her mother, Amy Winger, her brothers Kenneth and Doug, and her sister Amy. Her passing is felt deeply by her family and all who knew her. A graduate of Austintown Fitch, Class of 1983, Denise's vibrant spirit shone even brighter when she formed a bond with the "Ohltown Girls," a group of lifelong friends who provided unwavering support to Denise and her family throughout life's journey. Denise's calling to care for others led her to a fulfilling career in nursing. She earned her LPN from Choffin Youngstown School of Nursing, and her compassionate nature made her excel in the field. She contributed her skills to institutions including the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA), Blood and Cancer Center in Canfield, Ohio, and the Ashtabula VA Clinic. Beyond her professional achievements, Denise was a creative soul. Her passion for crafting was evident to all who knew her. From painting and woodworking to crocheting, quilting, ceramics, and diamond painting, her thirst for knowledge and dedication to each new craft brought joy to her life. Even in the face of adversity, she continued to create beautiful pieces that will forever be cherished. Denise's courage, compassion, and zest for life will continue to inspire everyone fortunate enough to have known her. As we remember and celebrate her life, let us take comfort in the love and cherished moments she shared with us and the beauty she added to the world through her artistic soul. Denise requested No funeral, but rather a celebration of life at the beach. Details will be posted soon to Denise's Facebook page for all who wish to come.
