Jerome Jeffrey Oroszy, 64, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023. He was born on September 8, 1958, in Conneaut, Ohio, to the late John J. Oroszy and Frances Leone (nee: Lerwill) Oroszy. Jerry's journey through life was one marked by love, resilience, and a zest for exploration. On February 14, 1986, he united in marriage with the love of his life, Lori L. Burlingham, in Conneaut. Together, they embraced life's opportunities, making a home in different parts of the country. From his early days in Conneaut to St. Augustine, Florida (1991-1995), Columbus, Ohio (1995-2007), Ocala, Florida (2007-2016), and most recently, Las Vegas, Nevada, he carried his spirit of adventure. Jerry's faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he was an active member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, where he found solace under the guidance of Fr. Courtney Krier. Jerry was a 1976 graduate of Conneaut High School, where he actively participated in the Choir and served as the athletic trainer for his high school football and basketball teams. He furthered his education by graduating from the Ohio School of Broadcast Technique in Cleveland in 1977. Jerry's passion for broadcasting led him to WIXY, where he completed his apprenticeship and notably announced the passing of Elvis Presley. He even had the opportunity to meet Meatloaf during his time there. His voice resonated through WWOW Radio Station in Conneaut and various stations in Cleveland, Ashtabula, and Erie. Additionally, Jerry's lively spirit extended to his stage persona as "Dr. O." From 1977 to 2006, he embraced this alter ego with his trademark phrase, "Nationally famous DJ since a week ago last Tuesday!" His energy and enthusiasm shone as he DJ'd weddings, parties, special events, and car shows. Jerome's talents extended to the world of roller rinks, including Kings Roller Rink and Nappi's Roller Den. Jerry's caring nature also encompassed his dedication to animal rescue. He extended his compassion to dogs, cats, and birds, leaving a positive impact on their lives. Jerry's devotion extended deeply to his family. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Lori L. Burlingham Oroszy; He was a loving father to his sons, Jerome Oroszy, Jr., John Oroszy, and James (Samantha) Oroszy; his daughter, Theresa (Ray)Hernandez; grandchildren, Joseph, Arianna, James, Xavier, Xena and Margaret brought further joy into Jerry's life. In addition to his immediate family, Jerry was a source of strength and affection to his sister, Judith Matthews. He shared a special bond with his nieces and nephews, Julia (Patrick) Louthan, Amanda (Rusty) Bergman, Jennifer (Craig) Kocen, and Karyn (Trevor) Gwin; great-nieces and nephews, Luke and Beau Louthan, Grant, Gracelynn, and Graylee Bergman, CJ and Jenna Kocen, Timothy Owens, Anastasia and Alexander Gwin. Jerome was preceded in death by his parents; brother John Oroszy; and a niece, Keri-Anne Owens. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, September 8, 2023 at 11:00AM at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 744 Mill St., Conneaut, with Fr. Philip Miller, celebrating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens. Friends and family will be received at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut Thursday, September 7, from 2PM-4PM and 6-8PM.
