Conneaut- James Van Putten, 77, passed away Monday, October 23, 2023. He was born in Wayne, New Jersey, the son of Walter and Connie (Hartley) Van Putten. Jim attended high school in Wayne, New Jersey and received an associate degree. He was United States Army veteran, he served in Korea, where he taught English to the Korean children. He moved to Santa Barbara, California where he started the Disk Drive Company. Jim then moved to Conneaut, Ohio where he was a Realtor with Harbor Realty. He enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Balzer) Jones Van Putten, whom he married on January 20, 2007 in Geneva, Ohio; brother, Thomas Van Putten; step-children, Butch Gochnour, Joy Braley, Julie (Charles) Peterson, Brandon (Jennifer) Jones, and Kevin (Zoey) Jones; grandchildren, Zephyr, Xander, Hanah, Shealynn, Nicole, Amber, and Todd. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Edwyna M. Van Putten; brother, Robert Van Putten; and a granddaughter, Amanda. A memorial service will be held, Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 12PM at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut with Fr. Philip Miller, officiating. Military honors will be conducted by fellow comrades from the American Legion Cowle Post #151. A calling hour will be held on Saturday from 11:00AM until the time of service at 12PM.
