CONNEAUT- Shirley M. Eaton, 88, of Conneaut, passed away peacefully, Saturday morning, March 16, 2013 at the Villa at the Lake.
Born May 25, 1924, in Monoca, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late, Herman Alex and Edna Alice (Finch) Alstrom. Shirley was a graduate of Rowe High School. She married James Gibson in 1944.
Shirley married her second husband Harry in 1961, and together they owned and operated Eaton's Flower Shop on Broad Street for many years. Upon Harry's retirement she followed her dream and opened it up as a dress shop, "Cheryl's Boutique." In her later years, Shirley worked at the Conneaut Railroad Museum and also served for many years on the board. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, playing BINGO and Yahtzee, playing with her cats, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Ted) Grubke of Conneaut; four step-children; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Gibson on April 18, 1956; her second husband, Harry Eaton, Sr. October 6, 1996; two sisters, and a brother.
At her request, there will be no calling hours or services. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
