Obituary of Florence W. Barrick

Florence W. Barrick, 99, of Conneaut passed away peacefully, Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Ashtabula County Medical Center. She was born September 22, 1915, in Cleveland. Florence married the love of her life Andrew V. Barrick on August 30, 1941. Florence began her career as an Executive Secretary at a manufacturing plant in Cleveland, when WWII began she was recommended by management to work for the War Production Board in Washington, D. C. She worked as an Executive Assistant to one of the Board members while her husband was in the military in Washington. Florence was one of the women who came to Washington to aid in the war effort whom were known by many as the "Washington Girls". After the war, Florence worked alongside her husband helping to build the family business in Cleveland. The business, Euclid Paper Company , which still exists today in Cleveland is managed now by their son David. Mrs. Barrick is survived by her sons, Andrew J. Barrick J.D. of Springfield, VA, David Barrick of Euclid and his fiancé Michelle DeMell, and James Barrick of New York, NY; as well as many nieces and nephews. Florence was preceded in death by her husband Andrew V.; son Daniel Barrick, DDS; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Barrick; her parents and many brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held at 4pm Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 4 p.m. at the THOMPSON-SMITH-NESBITT FUNERAL HOME, 345 Main St., Conneaut. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from, 2PM until the time of service at 4PM. Graveside services will be at Lakeview Cemetery, 12316 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, Ohio, on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 11:00 am. THOMPSON-SMTIH-NESBITT FUNERAL HOME, is honored to serve the family.
