Obituary of Carolyn Mae Penza

Carolyn (Carrie) Penza, age 90 passed away at UH Conneaut Medical Center on February 16, 2016. Carrie was born in Conneaut, Ohio on October 18, 1925 to Kasmer and Mary (Perkoski) Penza. Carrie was a graduate of Conneaut High and earned her Registered Nursing degree in Cleveland. Upon graduation Carrie began her nursing career at Brown Memorial Hospital now UH Conneaut Medical Center. Carrie worked at Brown for 40 years and was the head nurse in the surgery department for many years. Upon retirement Carrie fulfilled her dream of moving to Florida and lived on the 5th hole of Citrus Springs Country Club. Carrie returned to Conneaut and resided at the Villa at the Lake the last couple of years. Throughout her life, her faith and family were central to her life. Carrie cared for her parents, was the Family doctor, and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America for more the 60 years. Her other passions were her dachshunds and Ford Thunderbirds. Carrie was a fine athlete and loved playing Golf and was the club champion at Conneaut Country Club. She also scored an ace in Florida and was able to attend the Masters Golf tournament. Carrie was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Chester Penza; uncles, Charles and Frank Perkoski; Aunts Helen (Norman) Benson, Sophie (Frank) Kovacs, Cecelia (James) Watson. Carrie is survived by her sister in law, Helen Penza; aunt, Anne (Perkoski) Chase; nephews, David Penza and John (Cynthia) Penza; nieces, Barbara Penza, Martha (John) Bedian; cousins, Rick Chase, Sophia (Clyde) Seager, Elizabeth (Jack) Gruey, and Thomas (Rosemary) Perkoski. A Memorial Mass will be held March 19, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Corpus Christi, St. Mary's Catholic Church, 480 State St., Conneaut, Ohio, with Father Philip Miller, officiating. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. A fellowship lunch will be held following the services at the Villa at the Lake, 48 Parish Rd., Conneaut. Memorial contributions may be made in Carrie's name to Corpus Christi Parish, 744 Mill St., Conneaut, Ohio, 44030.
