Obituary of Marian L Wright

Please share a memory of Marian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Conneaut- Marian L. Wright, 86, of Conneaut passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 after a courageous 20 year battle with cancer. Marian was born on July 20, 1930 in Conneaut, the daughter of Frank D. and Mary A. (nee Klein) Meinke. She graduated from Conneaut High School and married the love of her life, Richard R. Wright on August 10, 1957 in Conneaut. Marian loved life, her very large family, and she loved people. She loved her husband, Richard, for over 60 years. Unless Richard was working, they were always together. She had vivid memories of driving his brand new 55 Chevy after they first met. Marian especially took pride in her grandchildren and spoiled them. She once said, "I waited a long time for grandchildren, and I will never apologize for spoiling them." She was also especially close to her six sisters. Though she battled cancer for over 20 years, she never let others see the effects of her cancer and always took the time to talk with everyone. Marian was a PTO mom and a Sunday school teacher. She was a lifelong member of the Lakeview and New Leaf United Methodist Church and volunteered at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home, rarely missing a Wednesday for over 30 years. Marian was always there for people in need. Her son and daughter-in-law are teachers, and when she heard of a child without a coat, gloves, a hat or toys for Christmas, she would show up with a filled bag. She wasn't a wealthy woman, but she always found a way to help. Marian's favorite holiday was Christmas. Her house was filled with many trees, decorations, and Richard's famous wood carvings. Marian was not much of a traveler. She enjoyed the simple life of small town Ohio. She did, however, take and rare and ambitious road trip after Richard's retirement, driving to Seattle, Alaska, and then down to Texas, before returning home over a month later. Marian will be remembered for her giving spirit, her strength, her work ethic, and her love of people. She will be missed, but more importantly, she will be remembered. Marian is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Richard R. Wright; sons, Jeff (Laurie Rich) Wright of Seattle, WA and Jim (Julie Gibson Wright) Wright of Champion; grandchildren, Brenda (Jeremy) Brinkerhoff of Bellingham, WA and Samuel, Savanna, Aiden and Vincent Wright all of Champion; great-grandson, Zeal Brinkerhoff of Bellingham, WA; and sisters, Marge Meinke, Charlotte Brundage and Doris (Bill) McDonald all of Conneaut, Janie (Dennis) Winchester of Kingsville and Carol (Milton) Gary of Ashtabula. Marian was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert and Roland Meinke; and a sister, Sandra Mann. A celebration of life will be held, Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the New Leaf United Methodist Church, 110 Gateway Ave., Conneaut with Pastor Jan Walsh officiating. Friends and family will gather at the church on Saturday from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM. Inurnment will take place at Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
