Obituary of Mary Lou Ray

CONNEAUT- Mary Lou Ray, 79, of Conneaut, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015 in the loving care of her great-great niece at Lake Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born August 16, 1935 in Conneaut, the daughter of the late Cletus Peter and Louise M. (Anderson) Gosche and had remained a lifelong area resident. Mary Lou graduated from Conneaut High School Class of 1953. After high school she went on to work at the Astatic Corporation as a painter and general assembler and remained there for 38 years until her retirement. Mary Lou was very active in church and her community. She was a member of Corpus Christi Parrish and attended St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was active at the senior center and often assisted with the Friday Night Dinners at the New Leaf United Methodist Church. Mary Lou also enjoyed going to yard sales and rummage sales. She is survived by her daughter, Bernadine (George) Beatman of Conneaut; son, David Ray of Ashtabula; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 345 Main St., Conneaut, with Pastor Tim Kraus, of the Conneaut Church of Christ, officiating. A celebration of life will take place following the service at the Conneaut Eagles. Private inurnment of ashes at St. Joseph will take place at a later date. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 from 5 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home.
