Obituary of Florence I. Henderson

Florence I. Henderson, 90, of Conneaut, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 in the Ashtabula County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, after a brief illness. Florence was born on December 31, 1924 in Springboro, Pennsylvania the daughter of Ralph and Emma Heard. She graduated from Conneaut High School Class of 1943. Florence married the love of her life, Howard E. Henderson on January 22, 1949 in Ripley, New York. She had been employed as a bank teller with the former AmeriTrust Bank. Florence was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. She was an active lady, who volunteered with the Pink Ladies at UH-Conneaut Medical Center and worked in the gift shop. Florence enjoyed sewing, traveling, camping and spending time at the lake. In her younger years she loved to roller skate. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Dawn (Rich ) King of Conneaut; son, Jack (Debbie ) Henderson of Mentor; sister, Thelma (Eugene) Funk of Conneaut; grandchildren, Rick (Melissa) King, Sharyn (Bryan) Price, Lindsay (Greg) DeMoss, Kristopher (Sami Dies) King, Kelly (Steve) Lexa and Shannon Henderson; and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Henderson was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard E. Henderson in 1981; sisters, Helen Norton and Marian Adams; and a brother, Wilber Heard. Funeral services will be held, Monday, March 23, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut, with Rev. Keith Nitschke, officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens. Calling hours will be held Sunday, March 22, 2015 from 2-5 P.M. at the funeral home. Should friends desire memorials in memory of Florence may be given to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio
