Obituary of Gary Simpson

Gary Donald Simpson, Sr., 65, of Chestnut St., Conneaut passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on July 9, 1952 the son of Elzie Franklin Simpson and Martha Irene Dearborn Simpson. Gary was employed with Lukjan and Conneaut Leather, as well as serving on the Conneaut Auxiliary Police Department in the late 1970's. In the past he had attended Kelloggsville Church of the Nazarene. Gary was an avid motorcyclist and loved going for rides, as well as going to car shows. He enjoyed traveling and spending time outdoors. Gary loved his family, dogs and a good cup of coffee while surfing the computer. He is survived by his girlfriend, Kathi Bethel; children, Lisa (Mike) Champlin, Melissa (Tim) Weber, Gary Simpson, Jr., Nakita (DJ) Griffin, Lisa Bethel and Ashley Bethel; grandchildren, Christopher, Arron and Jeremy Champlin, Zoe and Megan Weber, Devin Simpson, Aiden and Brooklyn Pursley and Kyle Bethel; siblings, Marvin (Jane) Simpson and Vernita (Ray) Curtain. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Joyce Rhoades and Linda Brokos. A memorial service will be held Monday, March 5, 2018 at 12 NOON at Thompson Smith Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut, with burial to follow at East Lake Cemetery. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 11AM until time of services at 12NOON. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the family in care of the funeral home.
