Obituary of Thelma Winifred Kister

KINGSVILLE- Thelma Winifred Kister, 98, passed away peacefully, February 1, 2015 at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home. She was born November 3, 1916, in Denmark, Ohio, the daughter of the late Frank and Edna (Wiser) Asp, and had remained a lifelong area resident. She married the love of her life Lloyd Kister on May 10, 1941. Thelma was a longtime member of the Kelloggsville United Methodist Church where she played the piano for over 50 years, lead the choir and was active with the ladies aid. Thelma enjoyed crocheting, cross stitch, reading, doing word search puzzles and flowers. She enjoyed going out to eat with her family on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Most of all Thelma enjoyed the time she got to spend with her family; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren whom were the light of her life. She is survived by her children, Harold "Skip"(Ronne) Kister of Kingsville, Kathleen (George) Krenisky of N. Kingsville, Colletta (Ron) Hogle of Conneaut, Tim (Lisa) Kister of Summerville, SC, and Ronnie (Connie) Kister of Kingsville; her sister, Annabelle Otto of N. Kingsville; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; a niece, Janice Kelley; and a nephew, Don Otto. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd in 1975; her grandchildren, Georgia Lee and Timothy Lloyd; and her parents. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Ashtabula County Nursing Home for all the care and compassion they have showed Thelma during her stay there. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the THOMPSON-SMITH-NESBITT FUNERAL HOME, 345 Main St., Conneaut with Rev. Dennis Pycraft, officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Plymouth Township. Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 6, 2015 from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Family will also receive friends from 10 A.M. on Saturday, until time of services at 11:00 A.M In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Thelma's name may be made to Kelloggsville United Methodist Church, Building Fund or the Ashtabula County Nursing Home, Activities Fund.
