Obituary of Laverne Mae Hawley

Conneaut- Laverne M. Hawley, 87, of Reig Ave., Conneaut passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Lake Pointe Nursing Home.

Laverne was a Conneaut High School graduate and was employed as a bookkeeper with Emco Wheaton and Bob Hills Car Sales over the years.

She was an avid Cleveland sports fan and especially enjoyed rooting for the Browns and Indians. In her younger years she enjoyed traveling all over the United States. Laverne loved Conneaut and was always positive about the community’s prospective businesses. She especially cherished the time spent with her family and friends. Everyone that met Laverne loved her as she cared so deeply about everyone around her.

She is survived by her children, Ron (Barb) Hawley of Atlanta, GA and Linda (Dave) Wilkins of Mineral Ridge, OH; brother, George Woodworth of Palatka, FL; grandchildren, Shannon (Joe) Spitler of Mineral Ridge, OH, Michelle Hawley of Seattle, WA and Marissa Hawley of Atlanta, GA; great-grandchildren, Blaine and Trevor, Jasmine, Dylan, Aiden and Collin; and several nieces and nephews.

Laverne was preceded in death by her mother, Hazel Woodworth; and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Woodworth.

Memorials in memory of Laverne, may be given to the Conneaut Food Pantry, 327 Mill St., Conneaut, Ohio, 44030. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, February 9, 2019 from 10:00AM-11:00AM at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut, where services will follow at 11:00AM. Burial will immediately follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
