Obituary of Daniel Eugene Zappitelli

Daniel E. Zappitelli Daniel Eugene Zappitelli, 66, of Conneaut passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on May 23, 2019. He was born in Erie, Pennsylvania the son of Anthony and Margaret (DeWalt) Zappitelli. He graduated from Conneaut High School Class of 1972. Dan the day after graduation entered the United States Navy and proudly served our country on the USS Dyess until he was honorably discharged in 1974. Dan married the love of his life Robin Howland on October 24, 1975. He retired from Conrail and CSX in the track and communications department after over 30 years with the company. Dan enjoyed trains and building boats. Through his career he traveled on the railroad and through his retirement immensely enjoyed the time he got to spend with his children and especially the grandchildren. Dan was a kind and loving sole and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Robin; mother, Margaret Zappitelli; children, Dan (Meg) Zappitelli, Jeremy (Karen) Zappitelli, and Ann Zappitelli all of Conneaut; siblings, Alice (Rick) Kurdas, Debbie (Chip) Thayer, Donnie (Vicky) Zappitelli, Ozzy (Dennis) Maenpaa, and Joe (Debi) Zappitelli; and his cherished grandchildren, Dominic, Shannon, Ryan and Mia Zappitelli. Dan was preceded in death by his father, Anthony Zappitelli. A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 11AM at St. Frances Cabrini, Corpus Christi Parrish, 744 Mill St., Conneaut with Rev. Fr. Philip Miller, presiding.
