Obituary of George Ivan Hawkins

George Ivan Hawkins, Jr., 89, passed away at home surrounded by his family, after a brief illness. He was born on August 9, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late George Ivan, Sr. and Elsie (Lindsey) Hawkins. George made his home for many years in the Conneaut and Albion areas with his wife and four children. He was employed with Linde Air in Ashtabula for 37 years as a control operator. Mr. Hawkins was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and attended the local Kingdom Hall in West Springfield, Pennsylvania. He enjoyed traveling, music and story telling. George is survived by his loving wife, Wilma (Ploss) Hawkins whom he married on March 24, 1951 in Erie, PA; children, David L. Hawkins of Pensacola, FL, Deborah K. (David) Copeland of Albion, PA, Patricia Reffner of Houston, TX and Suzan (William) Gunter of Conneaut, OH; brother, Ellis R. Hawkins of Mexico; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; many nieces, nephews and extended family. George will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends. A memorial service will be held, Sunday, January 18, 2015 at12:30 P.M. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 14250 W. Lake Rd., (Routes 5 and 20) West Springfield, PA, with Harold Adams, presiding. Private inurnment at East Conneaut Cemetery at a later date.
