Obituary of Elsie Margaret Bacon

Elsie Margaret Bacon, 95, formerly of Middle Rd., Conneaut, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Jefferson Health Care. She was born on December 29, 1919 in Conneaut, Ohio to Jay E. and Grace (Rose) Hicks. Elsie was a 80 year plus member of the Monroe United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the Women's Society of Christian Service and enjoyed going to bible study. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, gardening, tending to her flowers, cooking and baking. Elsie loved to share stories of her younger years with her family and friends. She will be remembered for "always willing to help others." Mrs. Bacon is survived by her children, Marjorie (Dale) Bort of Jefferson, Joyce (Robert) Harvey of Grafton and Roger Bacon of Pierpont; sister, Betty (Ed) Fahlsing of Colorado; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Bacon of Mechanicsburg. She was preceded in death by husband of 52 years, Wallace H. Bacon, in 1993; son, Richard Bacon; brothers, Harold, Gerald, Paul, Raymond, Lloyd and Boyd Hicks; and a sister, Helen Dowler. Funeral services will be held, Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at THE THOMPSON-SMITH-NESBITT FUNERAL HOME, 345 MAIN ST., CONNEAUT, with Pastor Michael Harper, great-nephew of Elsie, officiating. Burial will follow at Kelloggsville Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until time of services at 1 P.M. at the funeral home.
