Ruth Ann "Gigi" (Hawn) Reed, age 79, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Friday, March 6, 2020.
Ruth Ann was born September 6, 1940 in Kingsville, to Claude and May (Hayes) Hawn.
On October 5, 1957 Ruth Ann married John Reed, the love of her life. They were married for 33 years. Together they had five children, Tim (Helen) Reed, Doug (Laurie) Reed, Sarah Patterson, Matt (Tina) Reed, and Claudette Horton (Kevin Stuper).
Ruth Ann enjoyed camping with her family, playing cards and games, bus trips, yard sales, making crafts with her sisters, and attending the annual Hawn Family Reunion. She also enjoyed the trips to Wheeling to watch the grey hounds and horses race.
She had worked as a resident service aide at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home and a nursing assistant at Brown Memorial Hospital. Ruth was a member of TOPS (Take off pounds sensibly) OH Chapter 869 and had been the KOPS Queen (Keep off pounds sensibly).
In addition to her children, Ruth Ann is survived by her siblings, Leah (Chuck) Risley, Lenna Rhodes, Gwen Mitchell, and Claude (Cyndee) Hawn. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Charles and sister-in-law, Vivian Hawn; sister, Joyce and brother-in-law, Chuck Hallett; brother-in-law, Gordon "Dusty" Rhodes; and great-great grandson, Alexander Glover.
Ruth Ann's family will receive friends on Monday, March 9, 2020 from 1-4PM at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut; funeral services will follow at 4PM with Rev. Betsy Schenk of the Amboy United Methodist Church officiating. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Ruth Ann's family would like to Thank the staff of the Hospice of the Western Reserve for their kindness and compassion and help over the past three months.
