Obituary of Betty I Smith

Betty I. Smith, 97, of Conneaut, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family Wednesday, May 13, 2020. She was born January 6, 1923 in Conneaut, the daughter of the late Neal and Lenora (Evans) Tanner and had remained a lifelong area resident. She attended Conneaut High School Betty married Joseph Smith in 1940. Betty worked for 41 years at the former Astatic Corp., she worked for 20 years in assembly and 21 years as a painter and paint tech. She also baked cakes for friends and family for birthdays, weddings, showers, and graduations. She retired in 1982. Betty was a 65+ year member of the Rose Chapter 22and Orion in Kingsville. She was Matron along with her husband Joseph as patron in 1971. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 1990; daughter, Ella Joan Stewart; son, Robert Smith; grandson, Donny Marvin, Adam Kliever; sister, Margaret Schmidt and her husband Dan; nephew, Tom Schmidt; grandson-in-law, Bill Dawson; and her parents. Betty is survived by her daughter-in-law, Dorothy Smith; son-in-law, John Stewart; grandchildren, Joe Smith, Pat Dawson, Becky (Jeff) Thomas, Donna (Rick) Kliever, Todd (Neda) Stewart, Eric (Carolyn) Stewart and Jodi Zuter; great-grandchildren, Shannon Fillinger, Brooke Terry, Kayla (Steve) Rossmeisl, Erin Stewart, Kyle Stewart, Ashley Stewart, Tyler (Lindsay) Stewart, Alexis Dyer; great-great grandchildren, Abby Stewart and Bodi Rossmeisl; nieces, Lenora Toth, Billy M. Gee, and Dannette Ingersol A graveside service at Glenwood Cemetery, will be held at the convenience of the family.
