Obituary of Elvin Big Bud Harrison

MONROE TWP.- Elvin "Big Bud", Harrison, 81, of Monroe Twp., passed away peacefully at home, December 31, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was born October, 14, 1933 in Jackson Co., West Virginia, the son of the late James Ervin and Chloe Mae Harrison. Elvin married the love of his life Gloria McCroskey on April 30, 1966. Elvin served his country in the National Guard. He worked as a dental tech at Tinchers Dental Lab in Charleston, West Virginia and then worked for some time at Hercules packaging in Conneaut. Elvin attended the Kelloggsville Church of the Nazarene. Mr. Harrison was an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns Fan. He was very involved with his kids sports as they were growing up, he coached their little league, always working them and teaching them to be the best they could be. He was their biggest fan and never missed a game. He greatly enjoyed fishing and hunting, but most of all he loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his dog Nugget, and his best friend Walt Spencer. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Gloria; children, Angela (David) Stump of Charleston, WV, Mark (Justine) Harrison of Conneaut, and Melissa (James) Betz of Jefferson, and son-in-law, Donald Parsons; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Harrison; his twin brother, Melvin "Little Bud" Harrison and sisters, Karen (James) Hunt and Justina Fowler all of Charleston, WV; grandchildren, Cheyenne, Brittany, Cierra, Emily, Katie, Savanna, Jason, Eric, Wendy, Cassandra, Bryant, Hannah and Hayden; and seven great-grandchildren and one on the way in June; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Elvin was preceded in death by his son Greg Harrison in 2013; daughter, Kathy Parsons in 2013, sisters, Irene Thaxton, Inez Burford, and Myrtle Hunt; brothers, Hobert and Nobert Harrison; and his parents. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 5, 2015 at 12 PM (Noon) at the THOMPSON-SMITH-NESBITT FUNERAL HOME, 345 Main St., Conneaut, with Pastor Les Bolen of the Kelloggsville Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will follow at Kelloggsville Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2015 from 2-4 PM, and on Monday from 11 until the time of service at the funeral home. Should friends desire memorials may be made in his name to the family.
