Ronald N. Thompson, 79, died peacefully on Monday August 31, 2020 at his home. He was born on June 30, 1941 in Erie, Pennsylvania, the son of Edmund Thompson and Florence (Myers) Wick. Ron served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, going target shooting and sitting on his front porch listening to country music while waving to passersby or chatting with his neighbors, Pat and Jack Carr. They affectionately nicknamed him "NEIGHBOR" and say he was 'THE BEST" anyone could ask for. Ron was a proud member of American Legion Post #151, Conneaut Moose Lodge #471 and the Conneaut Eagles Lodge #408, where he enjoyed socializing and stopping to sign up for the drawings. He is survived by his children Lana (Jeff) Hebert of North Pole, Alaska. Richard Thompson of Conneaut. Krissi (Anthony) Evans of Henderson, Nevada. Deana (Kenny) Rhodes of Conneaut and daughter-in-law, Brenda Thompson of Central, S.C. 16 grandchildren: Desirae Wilkins, Brandon Thompson, Chandel Rettinger, Daniel Terry, Kayla Lynn, Ashlynn Felker, Asher, Auston & Andrew Hebert, Kori Thompson, Dominic, Phoenix & Lyric Evans, Deziraye, Kenny Jr. & Kaytlin Rhodes. 6 Great grandchildren: Logan, Luke & Luci Rettinger. Alison Wilkins, Tucker Neil Terry & Elijah Rhodes. Also, several nieces and nephews. Ron believed family wasn't always about blood relation and considered Ed Meaney and Neal Mazzoni as his sons, too. He is proceeded in death by his parents; children Ronald N. Thompson Jr., Rhonda Flanigan. Siblings Arlene Tatalone, Richard Thompson and Edmund Thompson. Per his request, private family services will be observed. Memorial contributions can be made to the Ashtabula County APL.
