Sandra Kay Nelson (nee Tobias), 80 passed away from complications from COVID on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at UH- Conneaut Medical Center.
She was born October 28, 1940 at home in Conneaut Ohio the daughter of the late Dennis and Geraldine (Bossard) Tobias. Sandy graduated from Conneaut High School Class of 1958. She married Richard "Dick" Nelson on April 4, 1964 at Lakeview United Methodist Church in Conneaut.
Sandy lived her life to the fullest and did not let any moss grow under her feet. She enjoyed travelling, which was in part to her husband being in the Air Force for 20 years. She enjoyed Antiquing and was always up to going out and looking for treasures.
She enjoyed NASCAR and went to quite a few races. She was also a Cleveland sports fan, especially the Indians and the Browns. She always enjoyed a good card game or a game of chance.
Christmas was her favorite time of the year and she enjoyed decorating every single room in her home for the season, much to the dismay of her husband. Their house was recently showcased in the Conneaut Rotary's Christmas parade of homes. She truly enjoyed showing everyone all the decorations and could recall where she got most of them.
She was an avid Bowler and the ladies on her Tuesday night bowling league will never forget her colorful sayings that she would come up with.
Sandy was a member of Lakeview United Methodist Church for over 50 years. In her younger years she worked at the Conneaut Drug Store and she also drove School Bus for the Conneaut Schools for approximately 20 years.
She will be remembered as very outgoing and always willing to help anyone she could. You always knew where you stood with Sandy, she was never bashful about expressing her opinion.
