Obituary of Augstine E. Turner

MONROE TWP,OHIO- Augustine E. Turner, 97, of Monroe Twp., passed away peacefully, Sunday, November 9, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born January 27, 1917, in Cleveland, Ohio, a first generation American, the daughter of the late August and Mary (Gentile) Corrao, both natives of Sicily. She graduated high school in Cleveland in 1935. Augustine worked as a bookkeeper during WWII, and later went on to work at the P&J Variety for many years. A longtime member of the Corpus Christi Parish, attending St. Mary Church in Conneaut. Augustine also dedicated many hours at the Kelloggsville United Methodist Church helping with the Swiss steak dinners and other events they held. She enjoyed gardening, art and apple picking with her family. She was a phenomenal cook, making the best "meatballs", east of the Mississippi. A member of the Conneaut Art Guild, Ohio Farm Bureau, and the former Suburbanite Club. Augustine was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Diasio in 1941, her second husband, Lue Turner in 1994; daughter-in-law, Tina DiAsio; seven brothers and sisters; and her parents. She is survived by her loving sons, Leonard (Helen) DiAsio of Albuquerque, NM, Robert (Renee) DiAsio Sun City, AZ, Dr. Richard DiAsio M.D. of Monument, Co, and Dennis (Jean) Turner of Chardon; 15 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 10AM at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 744 Mill St., Conneaut, with Rev. Fr. Phillip Miller, of the Corpus Christi Parish, officiating . Interment will be with her first husband at Calvary Cemetery in Cleveland. Friends may call on Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 6-8 PM at the Thompson-Smith- Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut. Should friends desire memorial contributions in her name may be directed to Corpus Christi Parish, Kelloggsville United Methodist Church or the Hospice of the Western Reserve.
