Conneaut- Dorla J. Thompson, 76, passed away Friday, January 14, 2022 at UH-Conneaut after a brief illness. She's back in the loving arms of her husband.
She was born on July 21, 1945 in Conneaut, Ohio the daughter of Vera (Waldo) and Carl W. McCumber, Sr. Dorla worked for many years as a housekeeper at Day's Inn, before spending time helping raise grandchildren, which she loved being apart of. In her younger years she attended the Conneaut Church of Christ.
Dorla enjoyed listening to country music. She loved being around her family, especially the grandkids and enjoying good times with them. Dorla loved dogs, and always had one or two at her home. She will be remembered for being feisty and doing things her way.
She is survived by her children, Doreen Ramsey, Vera (Dale) Smith, Carl (Martha) Thompson and Harry F. Thompson, Jr.; 9 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; siblings, Roy (Sally) McCumber, Arther McCumber, Earnie (Shirley) McCumber, Gerald McCumber and Phyllis Thompson; and her sisters-in-law, Lois McCumber and Tessa Thorpe.
Dorla was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry F. Thompson, Sr.; son, Daniel Thompson; grandson, Daniel Lee Ramsey; siblings, Phillip J. McCumber, Carl Willard McCumber, Jr., Florence Rosina Todd and Kenneth McCumber.
Calling hours will be held 5PM-7PM, Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut where funeral services will be held, Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 11:00AM with Pastor Tim Kraus, officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery. The family recommends everyone to wear a mask and social distance while in attendance.
