Obituary of Vicki S. Heinonen
Please share a memory of Vicki to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Vicki S. Heinonen, 71, of Conneaut, Ohio passed away on Thursday, February 24th at Lake Pointe Nursing Home. Vicki was born August 2, 1950 in Conneaut, OH the daughter of the late Richard “Dick” and Carlie (McCluskey) Miltner. She was a lifelong resident of Conneaut and a member of St. Mary’s Church. Earlier in life she was a secretary and bookkeeper for several companies including, A.C. Transport, Gleason Realty and John Cheryl Construction and Trucking. In addition, she was the owner/operator along with her husband, Lee for 20 years of Sportsline Pub and Grill.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Vicki. She loved flowers and was proud of her beautiful perennial gardens. She was a wonderful cook and baker. Vicki was a high school varsity cheerleader and continued her passion for sports watching the Cleveland Indians, Browns and cavaliers. She loved animals of all kinds, their horses, cats and especially her dogs. She always looked forward to monthly dinners with friends to catch up and share some laughs. Beyond all else, her greatest joy in life was time spent with family.
Her pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met. All her friends, acquaintances and classmates of “1968” could attest to that. All the cards and notes of encouragement she received this past year meant a great deal to her.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 50 years, Lee Heinonen and her “fur baby” Maxi. Both could be found by her side during this difficult time. Lee was her high school sweetheart and love of her life. Her sisters Colleen (John) Baskin and Jane (Nick) Gildone of Conneaut. The special bond these sisters had was unbreakable. Her niece, Alyson (John) Schoff of Hudson, Oh and nephew, Jarrod Sharp of Conneaut held a special place in Vickie’s heart. Great nephews, Julian, Emmett & Owen Schoff who she loved dearly and two special friends, Kathy Smith and Patty Meeker were a constant support during her illness.
As Vicki did not want people to mourn her passing, a celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Thompson Smith Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut have been entrusted in making arrangements.
