CONNEAUT- Earl Clarence Tuttle, 85 of Williams St., Conneaut, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 23, 2014. Earl was born on October 28, 1928 in Monroe Center to Lee and Lucy (McCroskey) Tuttle. Mr. Tuttle married the former Virginia M. Anderson on May 30, 1948 in the former Lakeview United Brethren Church. He was employed for 12 years with the Nickle Plate Railroad as a pipe fitter and retired from RMI Sodium Plant after 37 years of service. He was a member of the former Lakeview United Methodist Church. Earl enjoyed traveling, was proud to have taken his children to all 48 states while they were young and wintering in St. Augustine Florida. With his wife they loved going to the ocean, long walks on the beach and collecting sea shells. While in Florida they enjoyed going to flea markets and going out to eat. During his time in Ohio he enjoyed going to the Roger's Flea Market. Earl also loved to watch his granddaughter's play softball and was especially proud of the Conneaut High School 2000 State Softball Championship. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends, as well as his four legged friends. Earl loved the girls at the Dollar General, as they were very kind to him. Mr. Tuttle is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Virginia M. Tuttle; son, Jim (Elaine) Tuttle; daughter, Laura (Jerry) Knauff; grandchildren, Angela (Millard) Fitch, Jacob (Sara) Tuttle, Robin (Kris) VanAllen, Adrian (Chris) Shad, Marcy Knauff and Scott (Noel) Knauff; great-grandchildren, Justice and Jasmine Fitch, Gretchen, Isaiah, Noah and Jonah Tuttle and Lexy and Nicholas Knauff; and his sister, Caroline (Frank) Carr. He was preceded in death by his parents. Graveside services will be observed on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at East Conneaut Cemetery, with Rev. David Miller, former Lakeview United Methodist Church pastor, officiating. Calling hours will be held, Friday, September 26, 2014 from 6 to 8 P.M. at the New Leaf United Methodist Church, corners of Buffalo and Madison Sts, Conneaut. Should friends desire memorials in memory of Earl may be given to Hospice of the Western Reserve. Envelopes will be available. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Hospice of the Western Reserve for their wonderful care, attention and comfort they provided during this difficult time.
