Obituary of Joan L. Temple

Joan Temple of Conneaut, Ohio, was a caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She left the world on Friday, September 9, 2022, at the age of 83, surrounded by loved ones in her home. She was born to Richard and Helen Hewit on July 19, 1939. She graduated from Harbor High School in Ashtabula, Ohio, and married the love of her life George Temple Sr. on July 1, 1955. George and Joan were known for their ballroom dancing talents and danced competitively throughout the area. On their wedding night, they celebrated their marriage at Eddies Grill in GOTL by ordering a footlong hotdog and milkshake with two straws. On their anniversary they returned to Eddie's Grill and ordered their footlongs and milkshake for 55 years. As an only child, Joan had a lifelong dream of having a large family, and she fulfilled that dream by having 6 children: George Jr., Jeffery, Mark, Richard, Gary, and Kimberly Colby and their spouses; 22 grandchildren: Corey, Richard, Stephen, Shannon, Melissa, Jeff Jr. Christina, Kyle, Erica, Jessica, Brandon, Jason, Sarah, Kristina, Shane, Kari, Michael, Amanda, Danial, Kayla, Mackenzie, Adyson and their spouses, and numerous great and great-great- grandchildren. Joan loved spending time with her family and being a homemaker for her children and grandchildren. Neighborhood children and friends would gather around the kitchen table for after-school snacks and dinner. Joan always welcomed every child into her home. She was everyone's "Grandma Joan." Joan was a talented seamstress, having clients such as Stevie Nicks and Lucille Ball out West when she lived in Arizona and Las Vegas. Moving to Conneaut, she worked for Newcomb's Sports 40 and served all Ashtabula County sewing letterman jackets for many years. Joan is reunited in Heaven with her parents, her husband George Temple Sr, and her son George Temple Jr. An open funeral service is scheduled for 11:00AM, September 13, 2022, at the Greenlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum, 3140 E. St. (Route 20) North Kingsville, Ohio, with Pastor Carson Robson of the Conneaut Church of God, officiating.
