Wayne Paul Johnson, 69, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at his home surround by his family. He was born on January 12, 1953, the son of Paul and Maxine (Vernon) Johnson and grew up in New Lothrop, Michigan, where he graduated from New Lothrop High School Class of 1971. Wayne earned Bachelors of Arts degrees in history and psychology from Olivet Nazarene University. Wayne married, Susan Furmage, the love of his life, on August 3, 1974 in Kelloggsville. He was a longtime member of Kelloggsville Church of the Nazarene. Wayne loved Jesus most of all and showed His love wherever he went. He was a Sunday school teacher for over 40 years, served on the church board, volunteered with the teens and children, and led many Bible studies. He loved people and valued them, often referring to them as “precious.” Wayne loved being with his family, being outdoors, was a history buff, and he built muzzleloaders starting out with just a rough cut piece of wood. Along with his wife, Wayne owned and operated Arrow Swift Printing in Erie for 27 years and later became a teacher for the Buckeye Local School District. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Sue Johnson; his dear children, Tiffany (Jason) Maurer of Virginia Beach, VA , Jeremiah Paul (Jenna) Johnson of Jackson Township, OH, Heather (Jacob) Bissett of Kingsville; beloved grandchildren, Evan and Owen Maurer, Ethan Paul, Everlee and Everett Johnson, Addison, Jacob, Jr., and Emily Bissett; sister, Joanne (Paul) Smith of Jackson, MI; sisters-in-law, Donna and Jan Furmage; niece and caregiver, McKensey (Luke) Taylor and their children, Olivia and Jaxson; nephew and caregiver, Stephen Pfeifer; and many dear cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, whom will miss him dearly. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Ken and Chuck Furmage; his in-laws, Bob and Doris Furmage; and grandparents, Clare and Merna Vernon, Alfred Johnson, George and Marguerite Ransom.
