Obituary of Carl Gary Wood

Conneaut- Carl Gary Wood, 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at his home. He was born on August 10, 1940 in Conneaut, Ohio the son of Devere and Thelma (Hewitt) Wood. Gary graduated from Conneaut High School Class of 1958. Gary was fortunate to have two careers, retiring from Ferro Corporation in Cleveland and retired in 2005 from the City of Conneaut Police Department, where he was a patrolman. He was a member of the South Ridge Baptist Church, Conneaut FOP Lodge #51 and was a proud member of the NRA. The children in his neighborhood, always made sure to stop at his home on Halloween Night, as he always gave out full size candy bars. In his younger years Gary was active in karate and achieved his blackbelt. Although time and distance separated him from family, he cherished all of his family members, including his stepchildren and grandchildren. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Joyce Schreiber. His memory will live on in his nieces, Pam (Jeff) Stanonik, Brenda Jaworski and Shelly (Robert) Runyeon; and his brother-in-law, Bill Schreiber. In keeping with his wishes no services will be observed. Gary will be laid to rest with his parents at Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
