Stephen H. Nickels, 68, of Conneaut passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023, at UPMC- Hamot Medical Center in Erie.

He was born October 30, 1954, in Conneaut the son of the late Harry and Bernice (Graves) Nickels. A lifelong area resident Steve graduated from Conneaut High School Class of 1973, during his High School years he also attended the Ashtabula County Vocational School. Steve married Deborah Zeigler on March 28, 1974.

Steve worked for many years as an extruder operator at Norton Plastics until their closing. Daily Steve could be found walking his dog Molly around the neighborhood. All the dogs on the east side of Conneaut also looked forward to Steve's walk as he was always sure to bring a pocket full of biscuits to feed them along the way. He was an avid Cleveland Sports fan and a NASCAR enthusiast.

Steve was also a faithful blood donor and gave back to others after his passing through organ donation. Steve also enjoyed cooking and baking cookies for his grandsons. Most of all he looked forward to the time he spent with his family and friends, especially the grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Deborah; son, Steven (Jennifer) Nickels; and grandsons, Bennett, Weston and Jamison Nickels; sister-in-law, Susan Nickels; nephews, Butch Nickels and Eric Carr; and niece, Chrissy Stevenson.

Steve was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Carr and her husband Gale; brother, Ronald Nickels; and his parents.

In following his wishes, a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
