Maxine M. Pelyhes Obituary

Conneaut- Maxine M. Pelyhes, 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2023.

Maxine was born on September 1, 1932, in Conneaut the daughter of Samuel and Bernice M. (nee: Tackett) Markijohn. She attended Conneaut High School, where she was in choir and 1st chair clarinet in the band and graduated in 1950. Maxine was a longtime member of North Kingsville Presbyterian Church, since 1952, serving as clerk of sessions for over 20 years and also shared her talents and her beautiful soprano voice in the church choir. Maxine married the love of her life, James C. Pelyhes on November 19, 1955 and he sadly preceded her in death on August 31, 2011. Most of her working career was spent as a legal secretary for Kingdom and Hoyt and later for the law offices of Charles Lafferty.

Maxine enjoyed doing puzzles, cooking, traveling, and going on vacations. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandkids. In addition, she loved her pets, and always kept a cat or dog as a companion. Her family will remember her as a strong willed lady, spoke in no uncertain terms and held others to their word and wouldn't let others tell her otherwise. She always said that a person's actions, spoke louder than their words.

Maxine is survived by her two children, Debbie (Paul) Rodenbucher and Jim (Marlene) Pelyhes; grandchildren, Amanda (Ryan) Flick and David Rodenbucher; dear cousin, Jimmy Markijohn; sister-in-law, Jean Markijohn; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; dear husband; her siblings, Darrell W. Markijohn, Richard Markijohn and Bruce Markijohn; and a sister-in-law, June Markijohn.
