Obituary of Ignacio "Iggy" Rivera

Ignacio "Iggy" Rivera, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at his home. He was born on May 2, 1933 or maybe 1934, but he told everyone 1933 in Ciales, Puerto Rico the son of Domingo and Juana Rivera. Iggy resided most of his life in the Erie, Pennsylvania and Conneaut areas. Mr. Rivera retired from the P & C Dock Company where he was the track foreman for many years. He was a faithful and devoted catholic and was a member of the Corpus Christi Parish and attended St. Mary's, as well as being a past member of the Knights of Columbus. Iggy loved to eat, golfing, bowling and going fishing with his boys. He was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and enjoyed watching baseball. He is survived by his children, William (Sanjuana) Rivera, Daniel (Sandi) Rivera, Ronald (Virginia) Rivera, Juantia (David) Blessing, Margarita "Marge" (Donnie) Rood, Maria Rivera and Anita Porter; grandchildren, Nichole Rivera, Brenda Rivera, Kirk Giles, Cory Blare, Deanna Brown, Tony Rivera, Nicole Anthony, Alyson Zoblisien, Jessica Zoblisien, Joseph Giannetto, Angela Giannetto, Heather Erickson, Nikoli Daniel, Sophia Porter, Asa Porter, Christopher Evans, Argay Niblack and Sierra Niblack; many great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters. Ignacio was preceded in death by his parents; former wife, Katherine Rivera; and a grandson, Rick Erickson. Private family services will be observed. Entombment at Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
