Leonard Bowers passed away on May 14, 2023, at his home, surrounded by family.
Leonard L. Bowers was born on July 3, 1933, at Conneaut, OH to Harold and Elsie (Albee) Bowers. He grew up in Conneaut, graduated from high school and attended college. On June 16, 1956, Leonard married Mary M. Joseph. He served in the Army and Air Force. Leonard made a career working with the railroad, as a mechanic, a truck driver, and ice-cream delivery.
He played semi-professional football and enjoyed watching football and cage wrestling. Leonard taught Sunday School and was a head usher at Free Methodist Church.
Enjoyment for Leonard came from loving his grandchildren, listening to gospel and classical music, traveling, old cars and collecting small scale old cars.
Leonard is survived by daughters, Patty Inman, Marcia (Dewey) Fertig, Cyndi (Roy) Bobbitt, Karen Finlaw, and Barbara Bowers; daughter in law Christina Bowers; brothers Perry (Merle) Bowers, Gary (Stevie) Bowers, Robert Bowers; sister Linda Summers; grandchildren Mark (Erika) Fertig, Lucas Fertig, Jonathan (Kacie) Fertig, Kim Bowers, Phillip (Jamie) Bowers, Christopher Bowers, Matthew Bowers, Jodi Finlaw, Kelly Smith, Jennifer (Alex) Reyes, Jeremy (Denise) Bowers, Kaylee O’Brien, James O’Brien, Greg O’Brien, Scott O’Brien, Kyle Bowers, Grace Bowers; Several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held at 1pm May 24, 2023, at Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Conneaut, OH. There will be a visitation from 11am-1pm with graveside service and burial directly following the funeral service. Leonard will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, OH.
