Randy Michael Douglas Obituary

Randy M. Douglas, 56, of Conneaut passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023, at UH Conneaut Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born November 9, 1966, in Conneaut, the son of Larry Chapman and Shirley (Wright) Shellenberger. A lifelong Conneaut resident, he graduated from Conneaut High School and ACJVS Class of 1987. He married the love of his life and high school sweetheart Sherrie Allen on March 5, 1988. Randy was a United State Army Veteran.

Randy worked as a patrol officer in Jefferson, Orwell, and Geneva-on-the Lake until he needed to have a kidney transplant and could no longer serve on the force. He also worked security at several concerts in Cleveland and the Cleveland Browns Stadium. After his kidney transplant, he worked for the Village of Jefferson Community Center as the assistant to the director and then also worked at the Ashtabula Senior Center. He worked for a short time at the Lake Erie Correctional Facility, and most recently he has been employed at Lowe's in Ashtabula.

Randy was a people person. He enjoyed being around people and always being active and living for his grandbabies.

Most of all he loved his family and the time he could spend with them. He was forever grateful for Linettte Derminer who donated a kidney to him, this gave him an opportunity to be a grandfather and have some time to enjoy them.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sherrie; children, Randy (Justine Provvedi) Dougles, Jr., and Carrie (Ian) Thompson; siblings, Becky Chapin, LanaRae (Chris) Anderson, and Lonny Chapman; grandchildren, Kayne Stanley, Randy III and Daegan Douglas, Zoe Swan-Thompson, and Alice, Emmery, and Jace Thompson; his foster parents, Ron and Mary Huff; mother-in-law, Ethel Allen; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Warner and Brandy Allen; nephew, DJ Harrington; nieces, Bobi (Jeff) Onion, and Karla (Matt) Beatman; great-nieces, Tayleigh, Hope, Faith, and Scarlett; great-nephews, Zac and Levi; and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.
