Conneaut- David L. Hawn, 76, beloved father, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at the Villa at the Lake.
David was born on December 1, 1946, in Ashtabula, Ohio, one of five children born to Charles L. and Vivian M. (nee: Anderson) Hawn. He was a 1964 graduate of Edgewood High School. David had a heart to help others and that led to a long career as an EMT, and among the first class of Paramedics for the Kingsville Volunteer Fire Department and later became a Deputy Sheriff with the Ashtabula County Sheriff's Office, retiring in 2002, after 25 years of service.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #151, Son's of the American Legion; Conneaut Elks Lodge #256 and the FOP Lodge #106.
David is survived by his children; Charlie (Cherie) Hawn, Heather Laferty, and Stacie (Shawn) Brink; siblings, Keith (Janet) Hawn, Rita (James) Wasielewski, Rebecca (Mark) Phillips, and Rhonda (Rudy, Jr.) Pryately; grandchildren, Charles L. Hawn, II (Krista Pavolillo), Justin D. (Marley) Hawn, Shae Brink, Quinn (Ava) Rudler, and Sierra Brink; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends and family will gather on Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 5PM-8PM at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut. A funeral service will be held Friday, September 22, 2023 at the Kingsville First Baptist Church, 3056 W. Main St. (Route 193), Kingsville at 12:00PM, where an additional hour of calling will be held from 11AM, until time of service. Inurnment will follow at Lulu Falls Cemetery.
