Conneaut- Charlene "Char" Champlin, 76, passed away peacefully at UH-Conneaut on Monday, January 1, 2024, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on July 18, 1947 in Erie, Pennsylvania the daughter of William "Jeep" Lossie and Jean L. (Wittenburg) Lossie. Char graduated from McDowell High School Class of 1965.
She retired from the State of Ohio, where she worked for Jobs and Family Services and in her early years she worked at various retail establishments.
Char enjoyed spending time outside working in her gardens and yard work. She also enjoyed trips to the beach. Char enjoyed rooting for the Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family.
She will be dearly missed by her husband of 56 years, Larry L. Champlin, whom she married on September 29, 1967 in New Castle, Pennsylvania; children, Michael (Lisa) Champlin, Michelle Murnahan, Marci (Robert Woods) Champlin, Melissa (Ozzie) Wright; grandchildren, Christopher, Arron, Jeremy Champlin, Desiree' Phillips, Kaitlin Murnahan, Wyatt Brandum, and Samantha Wright; great-grandchildren, Love-Lee, Destany, Damien, Draven, Evaleena; siblings, Barbara (Dale Werner) Eddy, Rick (Sherrie McIntosh) Winkelman, and Beverly (Rich) Bliss; and a brother-in-law, Andrew "Jack" Rodgers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Cheryl Rodgers; and a grandson, Terry Champlin.
Calling hours will be observed, Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 11:00AM-1:00PM at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut, where a funeral service will follow at 1:00PM with Pastor Julie Applegate, officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
