Obituary of Luke Patrick Gallagher

The family of Luke Patrick Gallagher regretfully announces his passing. Born in Akron on December 15th, 1964, Luke died on Wednesday, May 8th, 2024. He was 59 years old and passed due to a medical event while driving, causing him to crash. Raised in Tallmadge, Ohio, as the youngest of five children born to Dominic and Berneda Gallagher, Luke obtained his undergraduate degree from Heidelberg University and received his law degree from the University of Toledo. He had a long and successful career in law, including serving as the assistant law director to the city of Conneaut as well as running his own practice. Luke was a selfless friend and a dedicated host. He was well known for hosting 'lodge night' in the converted building that he ran his practice out of. His friends all have treasured memories of delicious food, creative drinks and excellent company. His generosity was extended to the rest of his community through his service to various charitable organizations and his willingness to lend a hand to others whenever he was able to. His sharp mind was fed through his tabletop gaming hobby, of which he was a gracious host and game coordinator to the gaming community. He often ran games at conventions and at game stores nearby, or would host those interested in learning how to play at the lodge. His desire to seek out new and exciting experiences could be seen through his love for travel and backpacking, either on his own or accompanied by his children, friends and siblings, but almost always with his beloved dog, Mordecai. Luke is survived by his two children, Jen and Leah Gallagher, and his siblings Deb, Paul, Steve, and Matt Gallagher. A celebration of life will be held at Buccia Winery and Vineyard (518 Gore Rd, Conneaut, OH) on Saturday, May 11th from 3:00-7:00. In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation is made to the Ashtabula County Animal Protective League, the Conneaut Arts Center, or a charity of your choosing. I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle, autumn rain. As you awake with morning's hush, I am the swift, up-flinging rush Of quiet birds in circling flight.
