Pierpont- Ida M. Gill, 93, formerly of Kelloggsville passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, June 16, 2024. She was born on September 9, 1930 in Columbus, Ohio the daughter of Samuel and Maude (Gilke) Clemens. Ida began working at the Cleveland Hotel as a young adult, where she cleaned rooms. Most of her life she was a dedicated homemaker, but also worked as a bar maid at the Shamrock over the years. Ida was a woman of faith and loved her Lord and Savior. She was a long-time member of the Eagles Auxiliary. Ida's favorite memory of the Eagles was winning the best dressed at their sock hop. She also enjoyed bowling in her younger years at The REC bowling alley. A child of the depression, she was frugal and a saver, which carried on throughout her life, and often saved extras and would hide certain foods and items, which often wouldn't be found until they'd expired, which included bananas and oranges. She also loved hot dogs, and never turned one down. Ida was an avid reader, always with a book in hand and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and word searches. Her family recalls the "Ida look" especially when you were in trouble. Ida's sense of humor, made for lighter moments in a difficult time. Ida is survived by her children, Dan (Patty) McFadden, Dolores Wolf, Ella (Jack) Williams, Ronda (George) Atwood and Scott (Pam) Gill; and over 100 descendants, including 24 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward S. Gill; sons, Robert McFadden and William McFadden; three brothers and two sisters; and a grandson, Eric Rivers. Calling hours will be held Friday, June 21, 2024 from 6PM-8PM at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 11:00AM, no formal service will be observed but the family asks for friends and family to bring a story to share.
