Obituary of Catherine Lois (Carr) Player

Catherine Lois (Carr) Player, 68, of Girard, Pennsylvania, gained her wings Monday, September 2, 2024, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. She was born February 23, 1956, in Philadelphia, Pa, the daughter of Florence B Stahl & James J Carr. Catherine was the second to last of thirteen children. Catherine was Catholic by faith, she enjoyed drawing, arts and crafts, writing poetry and journaling. She will forever be remembered for her great cooking. Most of all, she lived her life for her children and enjoyed all the time and memories made with them. She will forever be missed for her beautiful smile, her joyous personality and her strong will to always overcome any challenges life threw her way. She is survived by three daughters, Dawn (Matthew) Heynoski; Cathryn (Christopher) Brown, and Marissa Player; six grandchildren, Edward Cantz III, Shannon and Stephanie Soroka, Jazlynn, Mariyah, D’Angelo Carrier; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters Rose (Richard) Homansky and Florence Metzinger; and her beloved companion, Michael Hoopsick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Player, first born daughter, Rachel L Soroka; great-grandson, Vincent Papotta; and 10 siblings. At her request cremation will take place, and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
