Conneaut- Mark Stephen Sayles, Sr., 64, of Main Street, Conneaut, Ohio departed this life on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, to be with the Lord. He was born on September 20, 1960 in Conneaut, Ohio. He was 1 of 14 children born to Curtis and Eunice Sayles. Mark lived in Erie, Pennsylvania with his parents and siblings for many years. He attended both First Born and Mount Zion of The Apostolic Faith Church of God in Erie, Pennsylvania. On October 28, 1989, Mark married his wife Orala Louise Lyons. Together they lived in Erie, Pennsylvania for 6 months and then moved to Conneaut, Ohio, where they raised 4 wonderful children, 3 boys and 1 girl. They attended the First Azusa Apostolic Faith Church of God in Conneaut, Ohio and Springfield, Pennsylvania. Mark was employed with GAF for 25 years as a forklift operator. He was also HVAC certified. Mark also became a Direct TV installer for 5 years. He worked as a salesman for Boscov's and Sears for 2 years, and was currently working at General Aluminum, until his passing. Mark was a follower of Christ, and he loved the Lord. He sang in numerous groups and choirs with his breath-taking anointed voice. He loved gospel music and read his bible on a regular basis. Mark loved to laugh and quote scriptures with a joyful heart. He would partake in cooking, grilling, baking, and drawing. In addition, he created his own dance moves and jokes. Mark was a real comedian, as well as a charismatic speaker. Walking, working on cars, and swimming were also enjoyable interests. He was a sports fanatic and avid sports memorabilia collector (Let's Go Steelers!) Mark loved learning about many things, and one way he enjoyed was watching the history channel in his spare time. He also loved to watch and learn about the safari animals. On September 24, 2024, God welcomed Mark into his presence. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Curtis and Eunice Sayles; 5 brothers, Randy Sayles, Timothy Sayles, Ronald Sayles, Donald Sayles, Terry Sayles; and 1 sister, Sherry Sayles. Mark leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 34 years, Orala Louise Sayles; 4 sons, Mark Sayles, Jr. and grandson of Erie, PA, James Sayles of Ashtabula, OH, Tyreese Sayles of Columbus, OH, Danzel (Brooke) Sayles of Columbus, OH; 1 daughter, Charaea Sayles of Idaho Falls, ID; grandson, Kingston Michael Sayles; brother, William Sayles, of Erie, PA and Richard Sayles of Ashtabula; sisters, Constance (Wayne) Burnett of Erie, PA, Tina (Renould) Bell of Conneaut, Sandra Naylor of Edinboro, PA, Cheryl (Donald) Bonner of Erie, PA, and Cynthia Emanuel of Pittsburgh, PA; sister-in-law, Linda Sayles; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Mark wore many hats, he was a husband, father, uncle, brother, son, grandfather, cousin, father-in-law, son-in-law, brother-in-law, co-worker, and friend. He will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held, Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 12:00PM at New Leaf United Methodist Church, 110 Gateway Ave., Conneaut, Ohio. Calling hours will be from 11:00AM until time of service at 12:00PM. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut.
