Monroe Township- Elizabeth I. Passmore, 90, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at the Saybrook Landing, where she had resided the past two years. She was born on December 16, 1934 in Butler, Pennsylvania the daughter of Martin and Elizabeth (Nyakas) Szalai. Elizabeth graduated from Conneaut High School Class of 1953 and married Theodore J. Passmore, on August 8, 1953 and were married for 49 years until his passing on August 1, 2003. She was a member of the Corpus Christi Parish and attended the former St. Mary's Catholic Church. She worked for the Astatic Corporation and the Pickle Plant in Springboro, Pennsylvania for many years. Liz also enjoyed being the Fall Festival chairwoman for many years in Monroe. She served as an election poll worker for 20 years and also cleaned many area homes over the years. Elizabeth enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, and baking in her spare time. Liz looked forward to going camping every weekend during the summer. She truly cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family will remember her as a giving person, helping those in need, and being the one to step up and organize family events. Elizabeth is survived by her children, Karen (Tom) Knauff, Kathie (Ernie) Mittelstadt, David Passmore, Brian Passmore and Ted Passmore; grandchildren, Justin (Randi) Knauff, Teddy (Danelle) Knauff, Matthew, David and Brittnay Bradnan, Mikahla Passmore, Austin and Wyatt Passmore, Pheobe and Jordan Passmore; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Alayna, Dane, Kennedi, Sydney, Madyson, Ryleigh, Elizabeth, Jayce and Zoey; her sister, Cheryl Sharp; and a sister-in-law, Mary Szalai. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Elizabeth Szalai; husband, Theodore Passmore; siblings, Mike A. Szalai, John Szalai, Steve Szalai, Martin Szalai and Dan Szalai; her stepsisters, Peg Smith, Sue Tiche, and Sophie Tiche; and a grandson, Brian Passmore, II. Calling Hours will be held Sunday, January 19, 2025 from 2PM-5PM at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut, where a service will follow at 5:00PM, with Rev. Larry Carr, officiating. She will be inurned at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her memory may be given to the family and will be donated to organizations that were dear to her heart.
