John K. "Jack" Applebee, 78, of Stanhope-Kelloggsville Rd., passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Ashtabula County Medical Center. Jack was born on May 3, 1936 in Kelloggsville to William R. and Florence (Rennick) Applebee. He married Bonnie L. Ruland in West Springfield, Pennsylvania on September 2, 1960. Mr. Applebee was a proud member of Local #18, International Union of Operating Engineers. Jack was an active member of Kelloggsville Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed southern gospel music, gardening, moving dirt and taking rides. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Bonnie L. Applebee; sons, Alan (Bonnie) and Jeff (Elaine) all of Kelloggsville; sister, Marilyn (Joe) Simak of Kelloggsville; brother, Don (Beverly) Applebee of Austinburg; six grandchildren, Anna, Erica, John, Caroline, Sean and Cathleen; and brother-in-law, Edward Detrick. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William "Bill" Applebee; sisters, Edna Kitchen, Eleanor Leatherman, Ethel Anderson, Elizabeth Shenman, Lois Detrick and Doris Furmage; and infant granddaughter, Cassandra Marie Applebee. Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 10:00 A.M., at the Kelloggsville Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Les Bolen, officiating. Burial will follow at Kelloggsville Cemetery. Calling hours will be held, Tuesday, June 3, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Kelloggsville Church of the Nazarene. Should friends desire, memorials in memory of Jack may be given to the Kelloggsville Church of the Nazarene. Envelopes will be available at the church.
